Classroom Teacher of the Year

Purpose

This award is presented to a teacher who exhibits exemplary use of technology in the classroom. The teacher recognizes and uses a wide variety of technology tools to enhance the learning of all students.

Eligibility

The TCEA Classroom Teacher of the Year award is open to all certified public, private, and parochial Early Childhood through grade 12 educators. The primary job responsibility of the applicant must be teaching in the classroom.

ISTE

The Teacher of the Year recipient will be entered in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Outstanding Teacher of the Year. Also one additional award winner (other than Teacher of the Year) will be selected for entry in the ISTE Outstanding Leader of the Year. Elisa Bizzell

Elisa Bizzell is an English and journalism teacher at Central Heights High School in Central Heights ISD. Dedicated to using a variety of tools and methods to insure student success, she has been very active in implementing the use of technology in her curriculum, including the development of a classroom Moodle web site. She looks for creative and innovative ways to incorporate technology into the curriculum She uses an InterWrite Board embedded with art, photography, historical events, music, and famous quotations to teach.
