Nomination Process

What is the process for nominating someone for a TCEA Educator Award?

1. Download the criteria. Make sure it is the right criteria for the award you are working on.
2. All entries will be completed online and must include the following:
• Completed online entry
• All necessary documentation as specified in the contest criteria
• If the nominee is not a member of TCEA, a membership application with the necessary fees must be submitted to the TCEA office by December 1, 2009. (Candidates for Technical Support Person of the year, Superintendent of the Year and students applying for the Richard Brown Memorial Scholarship award need not be a member.)
3. Completed entries must be received on or before December 1, 2009.
4. Make sure your entry makes the deadline. There is NO leeway, so an entry that is late is not considered.

What happens after entries are received?

1. Entries not received by the due date are disqualified.
2. TCEA membership is verified for awards that require membership. Entries for nominees who are not current members are disqualified.
3. Entries are sent to judges.
4. Judges determine winners.
5. Finalists are notified via phone call before January 10.
6. All nominees are sent emails regarding their status after finalists are notified.
7. Finalists attend the TCEA Educator Awards Reception held Tuesday afternoon of the TCEA Annual Convention and Exposition.
1. Formal invitations are sent.
2. Finalists may bring up to four guests.
3. To receive monetary awards, finalists must fill out and sign a W-9 IRS form.
8. Winners are recognized at the opening general session of the TCEA Annual Convention and Exposition on Wednesday.
9. Winners and runners-up will be publicized in TCEA publications.
10. Press releases are sent to local media on winners and runners-up.
