Tech Support Person of the Year
Purpose
This award recognizes exemplarysupport personnel who make significant contributions by providing technical support to facilitate the successful use of technology on a campus or at thedistrict level.
Eligibility
The candidate for TCEA Technical Support Person of the Year may be non-certified and may include, but is not limited to: lab managers, network administrators, technicians, and campus technology facilitators. Depending upon the structure of the district, the candidate’s job duties might include installation/repair of workstations, servers, printers; network management; and cabling infrastructure. The candidate would also provide introductory training in the use of new hardware/software and use of network resources.

2008 Technical Support Person of the Year Vaughan Hamblen
Vaughan Hamblen, Network Administrator for Keller ISD, is responsible for the daily operation and management of a network serving 30,000 students and 3,000 employees He is involved with all aspects of network management including the installation and maintenance of the district’s 10,000 computer works stations, the servers, and networked printers. He developed a design using new technology that allowed the district to save half the cost of a new Network Operations Center.
