Technology Administrator of the Year

Purpose

This award is presented to a technology administrator who exhibits exemplary vision and management of technology at the district level.

Eligibility

The TCEA Technology Administrator of the Year award is open to all public, private and parochial district technology administrators. The primary responsibility of the applicant must be supervisory/administrative/training activities in technology.

2008 Technology Administrator of the Year
 Gerald Ashton

Gerald Ashton, Director of Technology in Northwest ISD, put a plan in place to support the technology infrastructure and integrate technology in a district growing at the rate of 21 percent. He oversaw teacher trainings, keeping student engagement at the forefront of instructional delivery and lesson design. He was responsible for implementing deployed Media Cast, mobile distance learning, ceiling mounted data presentation projectors, document cameras, and student response systems. He put in place the School Messenger phone contact system and Raptor Technologies visitor check-in system.

Founded in 1980, the organization has been very active throughout Texas supporting instructional technology.
