TCEA Individual Courses

TCEA Professional Development courses are in the areas of curriculum, instruction, leadership, and technology, and include topics such as robotics, tech integration, curriculum, networking, technical, and webmastering. All TCEA Professional Development courses vary in length, are offered in different regions across the state, and are delivered in a variety of formats including face-to-face, webinars, videoconferences, and online courses.

Individual Course Listings are available by strand and listed alphabetically. 

Teaching and Learning Strands

Curriculum Course Listing: Courses in the Curriculum strand focus on creating, revising, and implementing curricula. The emphasis of these courses will be on developing skills to increase learning through the use of educational technology and the latest research into Understanding by Design curriculum development. Courses such as Problem-Based Learning and Curriculum Revision, and Research on Millennial and Brain-Based Learning can be found under this strand.

Instruction Course Listing: Courses in the Instruction strand focus on providing enrichment opportunities in professional development for librarians, teachers, and robotics facilitators. The emphasis will be on developing skills to help classroom teachers successfully integrate technology into the everyday curriculum, ensuring that classroom teachers are prepared to lead their students into the 21st century and beyond, and on integrating STEM into the classroom and promoting higher order thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills. Courses such as 21st Century Equipment: Instructional Uses and Troubleshooting, Copyright for the 21st Century, Understanding and Building 21st Century Skills, Introduction to the NXT Robotics System, and Planning and Hosting a Robotics Competition can be found under this strand.

Leadership Course Listing: Courses in the Leadership strand focus on providing extensive professional development for district administrators, campus principals and assistant principals, technology directors, and campus technology specialists. The emphasis will be on developing strategic leadership skills as well as the ability to provide effective and engaging professional development experiences to staff to ensure that engaging 21st century educational technology learning experiences for students are being provided. Courses such as True Technology Integration, Instructional Design Implications When Implementing 1:1, Budget and Finance, Effective, Engaging Professional Development, and Assessing Technology Literacy in Staff and Students can be found under this strand.

Technology Course Listing: Courses in the Technology strand focus on providing professional development opportunities for individuals who manage the hardware, software, and network infrastructure at the district level, and to educators who wish to become, or already are, district or campus level webmasters, or for secondary technology teachers. The emphasis will be on developing strategic leadership skills, as well as technical specialization and expertise. Courses such as Hardware, Software, and Network Management, Installing and Configuring Microsoft Active Directory, Using Google Analytics to Improve Your Web Site Traffic, and Advanced Web Site Design can be found under this strand.
