Area 15
Director
About your Director, Sandy Sawyer:
I have been a member of TCEA since 2005 and this is my first year to serve as your area director. Currently, I am Director of Technology for Robert Lee Independent School District. I received my degree and teaching certificate two years ago, but before that I had worked as an aide and then a campus technician for 4 years. My bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education and my master’s degree is in Instructional Technology with an emphasis in Distance Education.
My experience in education technology started when I became a computer aide and I taught students, repaired computers, and helped teachers integrate technology in their classrooms. I and another aide put together and implemented a technology curriculum that we used in our elementary schools.
I became fascinated with technology when my husband brought home a Packard Bell computer, where I learned how to use DOS. Technology has come a long way since then and technology continues to evolve to make our lives easier.
I am excited to be a part of this organization. It is my goal as your TCEA Director, to make available technology professional development for educators so that they can learn new technologies that will benefit their school district and curriculum. I will encourage teachers to take advantage of technology events for themselves and their students that will give them the opportunity to apply what they have learned and relate it to their own lives.
Please feel free to contact me with any TCEA Area 15 questions, comments, or issues.
