Purpose This award is presented to a superintendent who recognizes the importance of technology in the teaching and learning process and actively promotes the use of technology throughout the district.
Eligibility The TCEA Superintendent of the Year award is open to all district superintendents whose primary job must be acting as the superintendent of his/her district. Active TCEA board members are not eligible to receive this award.
Application Requirements
Complete the online form. Nominees will be asked to provide links to or documents supporting evidence for some items.
As part of the online application, each nominee will be asked to provide information including:
Number of years in education
College, graduate, and post-graduate work
Awards and honors
Professional organizations
Additional information relating to this award
Each nominee must provide the names of three (3) professional references, one of which must be his or her immediate supervisor. The references will be contacted and asked to complete a questionnaire.
Three finalists will be chosen and must be able to attend the TCEA Convention & Exposition where the TCEA Superintendent of the Year will be announced.

Awards The TCEA Superintendent of the Year shall receive an engraved plaque and a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior of the superintendent’s choice. Two finalists will receive a plaque and a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior of their choice. If the district of a winner or finalist does not have a graduating class, the scholarship is to be given to a previous student who is a graduating senior. The three finalists will be notified by telephone prior to the convention. The TCEA Superintendent of the Year will be announced during a private awards ceremony and a keynote session at the TCEA Convention & Exposition. Recognition of the winners will be posted to the TCEA website at www.tcea.org.
One award winner (other than Teacher of the Year) will be selected for entry in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Outstanding Leader of the Year. For more information, please visit www.iste.org and click on Member Resources under Membership.
Applications must be submitted online on or before November 9, 2012.
Applicants will be disqualified if all information is not completed and submitted to TCEA by the deadline. A committee of TCEA board members and other educators will rate each application.
