Visit these playgrounds and lounges at TCEA 2010 for an interactive learning experience and to share ideas with your peers.

Playgrounds and Lounges are open
Wednesday and Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

iPlayground
This playground is a place to convene and share ideas for using the iPod touch and iPhone in the classroom. We invite you share your curriculum, best apps, best practices, and see how others are implementing these devices in 21st century learning.

Did you just get your iPod touch at TCEA 2010? Use this playground as a resource for learning new uses and troubleshooting.

Geocaching Playground
Participants will go outside and find actual hidden treasures. All TCEA participants are eligible to participate and there is room for everyone who would like to hunt. Participants will have a hands-on experience using a GPS to locate the coordinates where the caches are hidden.  Participants will get to see what it’s like to go on a classroom geocache hunt with a geocache expert. A geocaching workshop is also going to be offered for further exploration that will help teachers learn how to integrate this scavenger hunt into their daily classroom curriculum. The geocaching event is free and self-paced and can be done alone or with a group.

Fly with Us in the Second Life Playground
The playground will address common questions educators have about second life. It will offer hands-on experiences for newcomers as well as experienced second life users. The playground will demonstrate educational integration, share out-of-the-box ideas, and offer solutions to common obstacles and challenges.

Gaming Playground – Escape from Reality
View demonstrations of the use of games in the classroom. Play, get technical information, and learn how to integrate gaming into your curriculum. Learn how to overcome the top three variables teachers must overcome when using gaming: content addresses, timeline, and available resources.

Web 2.0 Quarters – for Bloggers and Podcasters
Visit the Web 2.0 Quarters for hands-on learning, peer networking, informal sessions, hear about the latest in Web 2.0, and of course, to blog and podcast about TCEA 2010.

Bloggers Cave – A cool, stress-free area for writers from all over to share their knowledge. Impromptu sessions will be held throughout the convention, scheduled on a first-come-first serve basis. The schedule changes hourly, so come in often. Bloggers and podcasters can learn from each other, share tips, or just sit and write. Be inspired by being able to look out over the main deck of the exhibition hall.

Podcasting Main Deck – Learn tips and tricks from fellow podcasters on creating exciting content. The schedule is organic, the learning is unique. Visit frequently to see the ever changing schedule of discussions.

Quarterdeck – Sometimes, a quiet place to conduct an interview is just what’s needed. Have a group discussion you wish to record for your podcast? Use this room to conduct interviews, have roundtable discussions, or live stream.

Open Source Lounge
Whether you’re new to open source technologies or an experienced guru, the lounge holds all things open source for you. View demos, attend informal sessions, ask the experts or share your experiences.

The Open Source Lounge is hosted by TCEA’s SOS Sig (Strategic Open Source Special Interest Group). To learn more about the SOS Sig or to sign up to present an informal session, visit sos.tcea.org.
