TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION TEKS

The State Board of Education has approved new Technology Application TEKS to go into effect this coming 2012-2013 school year. Over the summer, TCEA will provide a variety of ways for high school teachers to become more familiar with these revised TEKS and the new courses available to be taught at the high school.

The first line of support will come via a one-hour webinar overview that will be offered on each of the new courses listed below. The webinars will focus on the application of the new TEKS for each course, discuss what the class might look like in action, provide a list of suggested resources for meeting the TEKS in that course, and allow time for participants to discuss how they will implement the course. The cost of each webinar is $10 for TCEA members and $50 for non-members (includes a complimentary membership). In addition, individual groups for each course will be set up in the TCEA Social Community for continued support and sharing throughout the year.

For those educators wishing more in-depth preparation for teaching one of the new courses, TCEA will offer detailed, hands-on workshops for the courses listed below. Training at the TCEA office in Austin will be offered on the following days:

June 4-6	Web Design	June 7-9	Robotics Programming and Design (LabView and RobotC)
July 9-10	Game Programming and Design (for Non-Programmers)	July 16-17	Mobile Application Development (Android Apps)
July 30-August 1	Mobile Application Development (iOS Apps)
