2008 Student Technology Contests winners announced

picture of judgeTCEA announces more than 100 winners in the TCEA 2008 Student Technology Contests. Forty-three contest judges evaluated more than 800 entries and chose the winners on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

Third annual Ed Tech Symposium at 2009 convention

TCEA announces the third annual Educational Technology Research Symposium. This all-day event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at the Austin Convention Center in conjunction with the first two days of the TCEA annual convention. The event will provide a venue for educational technology researchers to present their work as formal Papers on any educational technology area. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend the TCEA Annual Convention and Exposition, “Accelerate Technology,” Feb. 2-6, 2009.

‘Square Off – PC’ programming contest held in Tyler

“Square Off — PC,” the TCEA 2008 State High School Programming Contest, was held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at The University of Texas at Tyler. A total of 95 teams participated and 375 people were on hand for the daylong contest. Teams of up to three students each from high schools across the state of Texas qualified for the annual TCEA contest. The students were vying for three places in four divisions.

“Accelerate Technology” at TCEA 2009

Make your plans now to attend the TCEA 29th Annual Convention & Exposition, “Accelerate Technology,” Feb. 2-6, 2009 at the Austin Convention Center. TCEA 2009 will be bigger and better than ever.

At the TCEA’s five-day annual convention, 13,000 educators from across Texas and from as far away as Canada and Mexico will converge for training, a product exposition, and networking.

The annual event is one of the premier educational technology conventions in the nation. From the nationally known speakers to the more than 100 workshops, hundreds of concurrent sessions, special fun events, and an educational technology exhibit hall, attendees will learn how to accelerate technology in the classroom.

  • Texas is the site of ISTE’s 29th annual National Educational Computing Conference, to be held from June 29-July 2, 2008, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
  • Vice President Convention Candace Threadgill hosted a steering committee meeting for the 2009 convention at the TCEA office on May19.
  • Monica Martinez has been named the new Training Director for TCEA.
  • TEC SIG held their spring meeting in Austin on May 8-9.
  • TCEA Area 7 and Areas 10, 11, and 12 are planning events.
