Educator Awards

Robert E. Knight Professional Scholarship

 

These $1,000 scholarships are awarded to educators for use in paying expenses incurred in achieving a higher education degree in the field of educational technology. The scholarships were named for the late Robert E. Knight, the first Executive Director of TCEA who was instrumental in establishing and expanding the association.

One graduate scholarship is available per year.

To apply, one must:

  1. Be a member of TCEA (Non-members may submit membership and dues at the time of entry.)
  2. Be employed full time in the field of education
  3. Use the money for expenses incurred in achieving a higher education degree (masters or doctorate) in the field of educational technology
  4. Have not received the scholarship previously

 

2008 Winner - Angela Wassenmiller

As a fourth-grade teacher at Waterford Oaks Elementary in Cedar Hill ISD, Angela Wassenmiller also is the webmaster at her campus. She is an excellent example of a teacher who integrates the use of technology, frequently using laptops, the Internet, student response systems, and digital cameras to introduce or reinforce new concepts. She frequently organizes grade-level projects, such as a current project, Literacy Through Photograph.

The Texas Computer Education Association is the largest state organization devoted to the use of technology in education.
Founded in 1980, the organization has been very active throughout Texas supporting instructional technology.
