Richard A. Brown Student Scholarships

Richard A. Brown Memorial Scholarship for Students: These $1,000 scholarships are awarded to deserving students who are pursuing a career in education. The scholarships were named for the late Richard A. Brown.
Three scholarships are available per year.
To apply, one must:
- Be a full time student at an accredited college or university (12 hours or more)
- Have successfully completed at least 24 hours of college
- Be pursuing a career in education
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a scale of 4.0
- Have not received the scholarship previously

2008 Winner - Teresa England
Teresa England, a technology facilitator in Lewisville ISD and student at Texas Woman’s University, is pursuing her dream to become a teacher. Described as dedicated, conscientious, dependable, and honest, she cares about the people around her and always goes the extra mile to help others. She continues to balance her time between academic, financial, and family obligations while keeping pace with ever-changing technology in the classrooms and administration. |

2008 Winner - Chelsey Reher
A student at the University of North Texas, Chelsey Reher’s goal as a teacher is to educate students using numerous learning styles. She says that using technology will help her achieve this goal in many ways. She has taken an open but discerning stance toward educational technology and appreciates the value of open-ended software in the classroom. She has managed the challenging position of City Parc Community Assistant while maintaining her academic focus. |
